16th Annual New Technology in Upper Extremity Surgery: The Cutting Edge With Advancing Translational Research

Cleveland, Ohio, June 5-7, 2016

An Overview

The Annual New Technology in Upper Extremity Surgery: The Cutting Edge With Advancing Translational Research focuses on the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder, and represents an on-going commitment to provide an introduction to the latest advances in the care and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremity for practicing orthopaedic surgeons, orthopaedic surgery residents/fellows, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, registered nurses, orthopaedic surgery assistants, scrub technologists, surgical assistants, orthopaedic technicians, and biomedical engineers. The combination of offering exposure to live surgical cases, hands-on skills workshops, didactic lectures and case presentation discussions, with direct faculty/participant interaction provides an ideal platform for the dissemination of new techniques designed to enhance patient care through a thoughtful educational experience.

Alan Wilde, M.D. Resident and Fellow Research Symposium

Residents and Fellows in all programs are encouraged to submit abstracts for presentation regarding their upper extremity research.  Topics may embrace bench research, clinical research or translational research.  Presenters will be allowed a ten minute time slot to present their research followed by discussion. Papers and presentations will be judged based on clarity and value of scientific content.  The two papers judged to be the outstanding presentations will then be presented as part of the CME programming on Tuesday during the didactic sessions and the presenters will receive an award and recognition. This forum includes all aspects of upper extremity from the shoulder to the fingertip and provides an opportunity for future leaders in the realm of Upper Extremity Surgery to interact and share research with each other as well as with our national and international faculty.  Residents and fellows whose papers are accepted for presentation will have registration fees waived for the Cutting Edge meeting.  We encourage all residents and fellows involved in upper extremity research to submit abstracts  to Mary Intorcio (mainto@ccf.org). The deadline for abstract submission is listed in the Key Dates.
