2018-12-12 Graduate Student Awards

Rakshit Shah, a graduate student from our Hand Research Laboratory, won this year’s Outstanding Award for Three-Minute Thesis competition at Cleveland State University, and represented Cleveland State University in the three-minute thesis regional competition at the 74th Annual Meeting of Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools. Rakshit was also the recipient of Best Biomedical Award at the 9th Annual Midwest Graduate Research Symposium for his poster presentation titled “Robot assisted ultrasonography for 3D reconstruction of carpal tunnel”.

The 18th Annual New Technology in Upper Extremity Surgery: The Cutting Edge With Advancing Translational Research was held during May 6-8, 2018, in Cleveland, Ohio. The Annual New Technology in Upper Extremity Surgery represents an on-going commitment to provide an introduction to the latest advances in the care and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremity for practicing orthopaedic surgeons, orthopaedic surgery residents/fellows, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, registered nurses, orthopaedic surgery assistants, scrub technologists, surgical assistants, orthopaedic technicians, and biomedical engineers. The combination of offering exposure to live surgical cases, hands-on skills workshops, didactic lectures and case presentation discussions, with direct faculty/participant interaction provides an ideal platform for the dissemination of new techniques designed to enhance patient care through a thoughtful educational experience. 2018-05-01 The International Symposium on Ligaments & Tendons (ISL&T-XVII)

The International Symposium on Ligaments & Tendons (ISL&T-XVII) was held on April 21, 2018 in Hangzhou, China. ISL&T provides a forum to discuss state-of-the-art ligament and tendon research, address challenging problems in ligament and tendon biomechanics and biology, and set new research directions that hold great potential for the future.
