2014-05-28 CORR InsightsThe HandLab’s recent publication titled “Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Impairs Thumb Opposition and Circumduction Motion” (Clin Orthop Relat Res., DOI 10.1007/s11999-014-3651-5) was featured in a CORR Insights commentary. The commentary references the series of HandLab studies that examine the effect of carpal tunnel syndrome on hand function. This CORR Insights points out that our studies provide new insights into the neuromuscular function of the hand and that further research is needed to continually improve understanding of the complex function and control of the hand. 2014-03-13 Travel AwardJoe Gabra, a graduate student in the HandLab, is selected as the recipient of the 2014 Travel Award sponsored by the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Lerner Research Institute. Twice a year, the award is given to one graduate student and one post-doctoral fellow for their outstanding work, providing financial support for their presentation at scientific meetings and conferences. Joe plans to use this award to support his attendance at the 2014 World Congress of Biomechanics international meeting that is being held this July in Boston, MA.
